The year-old from India was referred to a hospital with a wound on his genital region 15 days after first seeking help. The patient also suffered from severe swelling and skin shedding for several months before seeing a doctor. But two weeks later he was sent to the hospital as his pain worsened and the ulcer on his penis caused it to fall off. HPV, or human papillomavirus, is the name of a group of viruses that has more than different types. HPV is sometimes called the wart virus because some types of HPV cause warts on the hands, feet or genitals. HPV is a virus, and there is no direct treatment for the virus.
Cervical cancer screening is used to find changes in the cells of the cervix that could lead to cancer. The cervix is the opening to the uterus and is located at the top of the vagina. Screening includes cervical cytology also called the Pap test or Pap smear and, for some women, testing for human papillomavirus HPV. Cancer occurs when cervical cells become abnormal and, over time, grow out of control.
